Employee Spotlight: Shi McGowan

T2 has some of the brightest minds in the parking industry, and each employee brings a unique set of talents and experiences to the table. We thought you might like to learn more about these talented individuals. In our Employee Spotlight series, you’ll get to know one employee each month. This month we talked to Shi McGowan, T2 Sales Director, PARCS.

Shi McGowanWhere did you grow up?

I grew up in Ridgeland, MS.

What drew you to working in sales?

I have always said I wasn’t in sales. I was only a person that helped people solve their challenges. With my background in Information Technology, I like solving problems with technology. Sales was a role that I grew into. I started out in Account Management with T2 which allowed me to excel in external sales. I enjoy working with new customers and existing customers when working through their next projects or challenges.

How did you end up in the parking industry?

I started out as a Student Worker at Mississippi State University, where the director I worked for inherited Parking & Transportation. I assisted with long line permit sales and learned very quickly there had to be a better way. After working in that department for a couple of years, he offered me a Special Project Coordinator position where I officially started as a full time employee in Parking & Transportation, and I have been in the industry ever since.

What do you do as a Project Manager for T2?

As the Sales Director for PARCS, I manage the PARCS Regional Sales Managers that are responsible for PARCS sales to new customers and existing customers across the United States and Canada. I also work with internal departments to support our existing customers.

What’s something that you think people don’t know about parking that you find interesting?

The world’s most expensive permanent parking spot can be found in New York City at a cost of one million dollars!

What do you enjoy about working at T2?

I love the friendships that have grown with me as I worked for T2. I have gained customer friendships and employee friendships that will continue for years to come. The feeling of family when I started with T2 back in 2007 allowed me to settle right at home and grow within the company.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I love to cook and bake. I enjoy time with family and friends with some good ol’ games. Most people wouldn’t know this, but I LOVE CHRISTMAS!! It is my FAVORITE holiday and I really enjoy that time of the year!
