T2 has some of the brightest minds in the parking industry, and each employee brings a unique set of talents and experiences to the table. We thought you might like to learn more about these talented individuals. In our Employee Spotlight series, you’ll get to know one employee each month. This month we talked to Keyla Ruiz, a Software Developer for T2.
Where are you from originally?
Havana, Cuba
What drew you to working in technology?
I always liked math and computers. But I didn’t know I would end up in this field until I started college in 2008. After that, I just fell in love with my major and I am happy that I love what I do for living.
How did you end up in the parking industry?
After I moved to United States, I was looking for job related to computer science. My recruiter got me my first interview at ParkingSoft (later acquired by T2 Systems) and fortunately I was hired kind of on the spot, and that’s when my journey into parking world began.
What is something that you think people don’t know about parking that you find interesting?
People think parking is just about getting in and out of the garage, and I used to think the same, too. Even though it looks so easy and seamless to the outside world, it’s not that simple. And the way technology and parking are moving forward together, it is as interesting as any other technology sector.
What do you enjoy about working at T2?
I enjoy working at T2 because it has the best work and an employee-friendly environment.
If you hadn’t gotten in to technology, what would have been your career path?
I would have liked to be a physicist.
