T2 has some of the brightest minds in the parking industry, and each employee brings a unique set of talents and experiences to the table. We thought you might like to learn more about these talented individuals. In our Employee Spotlight series, you’ll get to know one employee each month. This month we talked to Kim Hechinger, Director, Project Management.
Where did you grow up?
I was raised on the far west side of Indianapolis.
What drew you to working in project management?
I was a branch manager of two GM credit union branches for years. A resource from the banking software company our credit union used reached out to see if I would be interested in implementing their software. I researched the project management field and decided it would be a great opportunity for growth.
How did you end up in the parking industry?
Robin Fulk, Jeff Lippens, and I implemented banking software at my previous position. Robin reached out a few times about open project management positions with T2, and I even applied once, but the timing wasn’t right. About a year later I applied again and was lucky to have been hired.
What do you do as Director, Project Management for T2?
I support the operations of the Project Management and Business Analyst teams; focus on enhancements and process improvements to improve project profitability; work with Finance on monthly forecast and reconciling of revenue recognition; monitor operating costs; assist Sales with Statements of Work and RFP responses; and communicate with customers to attain feedback to improve implementations for customer success.
What’s something that you think people don’t know about parking that you find interesting?
Coming from the banking industry, my first thought was that parking has to be easier to implement. I was wrong. I learned quickly that parking also has many complexities. Also, the similarities between the banking and parking industries are interesting. Both include equipment installations and functionality (ATMs and Pay-on-Foots) and the processing of credit card transactions, and customers from both industries are very open to sharing ideas and best practices within their industries.
What do you enjoy about working at T2?
I really enjoy the people. I feel fortunate that our T2 team is very knowledgeable and supportive. I get satisfaction from seeing others succeed – if I can support or mentor, that is always a plus. Lastly, I like the variety and challenges my position brings.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I played high school basketball for one of the largest Indiana high schools. At five foot nothing I played point guard…shocker, I wasn’t center or power forward.
