T2 has some of the brightest minds in the parking industry, and each employee brings a unique set of talents and experiences to the table. We thought you might like to learn more about these talented individuals. In our Employee Spotlight series, you’ll get to know one employee each month. This month we talked to Yonni Lopez, a Regional Sales Manager for our Iris and Pay Station solutions.
Where did you grow up?
I was born and grew up in Belmopan, the capital city of the only English speaking country in Central America – Belize.
What drew you to working in sales?
To be honest, I had never given a career in sales any thought. However, I’m very competitive, I enjoy finding solutions to problems, and I’m always looking for new challenges, so when an opportunity to join the T2 family presented itself, sales became an obvious choice. Building new relationships, expanding on existing ones, and sharing my experience with solutions/services that I have used and trust has also been very rewarding.
How did you end up in the parking industry?
My career in parking started my junior year in college. A friend was getting ready to graduate, told me about the cashiering position she was going to vacate, and encouraged me to apply. I was very confident that I’d get the job, but I never thought I’d still be in the industry 20 years later.
What do you do as a Regional Sales Manager for T2?
My primary responsibility is to maintain and expand our pay station footprint throughout the Southeast United States. I also work very closely with our Inside Sales and Account Management teams in supporting our existing pay station customers and their evolving needs.
What’s something that you think people don’t know about parking that you find interesting?
Free parking is a bad idea. Studies have confirmed that some of the negative consequences include missed opportunities to generate new revenue, improper management of parking assets, increased traffic congestion, and overall driver frustration.
What do you enjoy about working at T2?
The people; external and internal. I enjoy interacting with new and existing customers, learning about the nuances of their organizational practices, and seeing the innovative ways in which they use our solutions to streamline their operations. I also enjoy working alongside my fellow T2 employees. They are among the best and the brightest in the industry, and I have tremendous respect for their dedication and commitment to excellence.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I scored in the 99th percentile of students who took the Belize National Selection Examination (BNSE) in 1991. The BNSE is a national, standardized exam that is administered to all 8th grade students in Belize. The exam tests students’ achievements in English, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science and ultimately determines their eligibility for promotion to high school.
