T2 has some of the brightest minds in the parking industry, and each employee brings a unique set of talents and experiences to the table. We thought you might like to learn more about these talented individuals. In our Employee Spotlight series, you’ll get to know one employee each month. This month we talked to Sadie Jones, Manager, Citation Services.
Where did you grow up?
My mother was a hippie in the 60s and lived in a commune in San Francisco. I was born there and lived in Brisbane, which was a small town south of San Francisco. Our house was high up in the hills, so when the fog rolled in below it appeared as if we lived in the clouds. Later we moved to Garden Grove in southern California and eventually to Indiana. We arrived in Indianapolis right after the blizzard of 1978. It was shocking to see 15-foot snow banks and piles of snow everywhere.
What drew you to working in collections?
I attended Ball State University and majored in Anthropology, but later decided that was not for me! I then went into medical assisting, but preferred back office work and – you guessed it – “collections”.
How did you end up in the parking industry?
My old supervisor from my previous employer recruited me. She said T2 was like no other company she had ever worked for, and she was right! It was weird at first (Collecting unpaid parking tickets…really?), but I quickly learned that there was more to parking than just citations.
What do you do as the Manager, Citation Services for T2?
I manage Citation Services day-to-day operations, which includes monitoring collection statistics, strategic planning, and managing our call center. I lead and support my team and make sure we are meeting or exceeding our customers’ expectations by quickly resolving issues.
What’s something that you think people don’t know about parking that you find interesting?
How big the industry is! It is amazing how all the pieces fit together and the technology is ever changing. One piece of technology I find interesting is the Barnacle, which is a boot that is placed over the windshield. The owner must pay all their tickets before it is removed.
What do you enjoy about working at T2?
The T2 culture of work hard, play hard. I also enjoy working with other departments to assist with projects and supporting our customers.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I’m terrified of flying but I love to travel. Years ago I was on a flight in Jamaica and we hit an air pocket that caused several folks to fly up out of their seats. I have been terrified of flying ever since, so I bring coloring books and markers on flights to distract myself.
