We thought you might like to learn more about these talented individuals. In our Employee Spotlight series, you’ll get to know one employee each month. This month we talked to Melissa Morgan, T2 Director of Customer Success.
Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia.
How did you end up in the parking industry?
I had a good friend that worked as a Parking Manager. She was truly passionate about the parking industry and loved her career. She insisted multiple times that I fill out an application for an open Parking Supervisor position with her company. Fortunately, I pursued her request to apply and secured the position of Parking Supervisor. This was my initial introduction into the world of parking and I’ve been passionately involved since.
What are some parking-related roles that you’ve had in your career?
I started as Parking Supervisor at a college campus in Virginia. Once I moved back to Atlanta I was able to secure a Parking Manager role which later blossomed into an opportunity for a promotion into an Operations Manager position. During the course being an Operations Manager I discovered that I was interested in being a trainer. I sought out and obtained a Training Manager role with a local parking vendor.
In 2017, T2 acquired the company where I was a Training Manager. That role was no longer needed, but I was offered the ability to stay with the company in the capacity of PARCS Support Manager. During my tenure as the PARCS Support Manager my passion for parking, desire to succeed, and demonstrated improvement of the PARCS Support Team fostered an opportunity to advance into the Director of Customer Success role within T2.
What will you be doing as Director of Customer Success for T2?
The Customer Success team will be the go-to team for customer needs. We will continue to foster customer relationships to ensure they feel valued, empowered, and always have the products they need to operate an efficient, successful parking operation. I have an incredible team in place with extraordinary talent. I will leverage this talent for our customers to ensure we are exceeding their expectations. We will not only focus on existing customers, but also the onboarding of new customers. We will truly be able to drive customer success and satisfaction with this new team.
What’s something that you think people don’t know about parking that you find interesting?
Parking is often seen as a simple model – drive into a lot, take a ticket, park, pay, etc. There is so much more to an effective parking operation than meets the eye. One of the areas often overlooked is the actual technology that is leveraged to ensure such an operation is able to exist. I find the technology very interesting.
As interesting as the technology aspect is, it’s the people that truly define parking. I greatly enjoy working with a diverse base of customers. This interaction allows you to peer into the views of many different owners, operators, and technicians to gain valuable insight into the parking industry as a whole. Being able to utilize this insight to create an effective parking operation based on specific customer needs is what motivates me in this industry. I like that each operation brings new challenges to the table, but the end goal is always the same: make a better customer experience for those parking in the facility. I truly enjoy being a part of that.
What do you enjoy about working at T2?
Without a doubt, the people. We have a wonderful team that provides impactful innovations to our customers in the parking industry. Day in and day out we are leveraging the best people and technology in the parking industry. There is an obvious desire to make a better experience for our customers through the contributions of each and every team member at T2. As the old saying goes, there’s no “I” in team. That sentiment can truly be felt at T2 and I am proud to be a part of that winning culture.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
Most people don’t know that I am an avid Olympic lifter and coach. It is an incredible feeling to go into a gym and lift ALL the weights. It is an even better feeling to help someone find strengths in themselves that they never thought they had.
